The foundation of mathematical knowledge begins in Lower School.
We use a comprehensive Kindergarten through Sixth Grade curriculum. It is research-based and field-tested, with a focus on developing conceptual understandings and problem-solving skills in arithmetic, data, probability, geometry, algebra, and operations. Prior knowledge is linked to new concepts by providing for ongoing, spaced review. Classroom instruction makes considerable use of partner and small group work and includes hands-on activities and explorations.
Fact fluency is built through daily oral practice, conceptual activities, and games. Students are encouraged to learn and use a variety of strategies for problem solving and are afforded a variety of assessment opportunities.
