What affordable means

If you're exploring private school, chances are you've already asked yourself the honest question: "Can we actually afford this?"

For most families, "affordable" doesn't mean inexpensive. It means attainable, flexible, and worth the investment. At Kent School, we don't believe an exceptional education should feel out of reach, and we work closely with families to build a clear, personal path to making it possible. We'll walk you through every piece of that path: the tuition, what it includes, the aid, the payment options, and the value behind it all.

We believe in being upfront about cost. Below is our published tuition by grade level. Keep two things in mind as you read it: our tuition is inclusive (more on what that covers just below), and the published figure is the starting point and not what many families actually pay once aid is factored in.

Here's the part most schools leave out. Because more than 40% of our families receive tuition assistance, the published tuition is not what many families pay. Aid is need-based and personal to each family, so there's no single "discount," but to give you a realistic sense of the range:

How Financial Aid Works

We partner with Clarity, a secure third-party platform, to assess each family's ability to pay in a fair, personalized, confidential way. The process is three steps:

A note about Little School

Tuition assistance isn't available for Little School, but your tuition may qualify for federal dependent-care tax benefits. Check with your tax advisor.

Why It's Worth It

A number on a page can't capture what your child actually receives. At Kent School, your child isn't just doing school — they're known. In classes small enough that every child is seen, with teachers who notice when a child is ready to be stretched, or needs a steadier hand.

PreK-8

That shows up in the program: a full K–8 experience with Chesapeake Bay Studies on our waterfront campus, Learning Strategists for individual academic support, Spanish from Pre-K, a rich arts and athletics program, and Middle School electives from robotics to culinary arts. It's grounded in research, too — our nine-year partnership with the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning makes Kent the only PK–8 school in Maryland engaged in that nationally recognized work.

And we're investing in more. The Osprey Innovation Center and a renovated Middle School open in September 2026 — a direct reinvestment in the education your tuition supports.
