Preschool Teacher (Full Time, 10-Month Position)
Kent School, an independent day school located on the banks of the Chester River in historic Chestertown, Maryland, serving students from Preschool through Grade 8, seeks a full-time Preschool Teacher for children ages 3–5.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion for early childhood education and a strong commitment to nurturing the growth and development of young children in a warm, engaging learning environment. This position follows a 10-month schedule, with hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., plus one day per week of after school care until 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
Candidates should bring enthusiasm for the School’s mission, along with 1–3 years of experience in an early childhood setting. The successful applicant will be a collaborative team player with strong communication skills and a professional, patient, and positive approach to teaching. A joyful spirit and a deep appreciation for working with young learners are essential.
Required Credentials
- 45-hour Curriculum course and 45-hour Child Growth and Development course or 90-hour Child Care certification
- 9-hour Communication course
- 3-hour “Including All Children and ADA” course
- Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development
- Successful completion of all federal and Maryland state background checks
A college degree is preferred.
