Curriculum

Our curriculum is a developmentally appropriate skills based program designed and written by our teachers and is approved by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS). The themes are calendar based and operate on a two-year rotation so the children who attend for two years do not repeat any activities. Our Early Childhood program involves realistic situations. All instruction is theme-based, child-centered, and teacher-directed. Children are exposed to:

  • Experiences to develop reading, phonological awareness, language and communication skills
  • Tactile experiences that promote an understanding of spatial and numerical concepts, hypothesizing, reasoning and problem-solving
  • Opportunities to explore, experiment and experience activities that provide them with an explanation and understanding of the natural world around them and its people (may include field trips)
  • Development of critical thinking skills (how to think) and problem solving skills (including conflict resolution)
  • Mastery of kindergarten readiness skills
  • Sensory experiences which fulfill developmental needs and enhance a child's sensory integration process
